Square Enix Canceled Final Fantasy XV Episodes

Earlier today, Square Enix held a live stream dubbed as a “Special Program” that would announce some very significant news about forthcoming Final Fantasy XV. According to the stream, Square Enix, unfortunately, canceled Final Fantasy XV episodes as the game director Hajime Tabata left the company.

Before Hajime Tabata to leave the company, Square Enix planned to keep on releasing Final Fantasy XV content throughout 2019 with four DLC episodes focused on characters Ardyn, Aranea, Lunafreya, and Noctis.

However, only the Ardyn episode will come out as the company has almost finished its development. The other three DLCs were abandoned. Also, next month, a collaboration event with Final Fantasy XIV would take place, and the Comrades multiplayer mode would launch as a standalone game for PS4 and Xbox One.

While we don’t have a reason for the departure of Hajime Tabata, it’s decision to leave the company is surprising since he recently took over Luminous Productions, a new studio within Square Enix.

Square Enix Canceled Final Fantasy XV Episodes

Regardless of his reasons for leaving Square Enix, Hajime’s departure forced the video games company to cancel upcoming Final Fantasy XV episodes scheduled for 2019 as four DLC centered on Ardyn, Aranea, Lunafreya, and Noctis characters.

Also, Hajime Tabata is the one to be praised for managing to turn around Final Fantasy XV game and making it as it is, as this title of the renowned video game experienced a troubled and protracted development process.

“In regards to my next endeavors and near future, I have a project that I truly wish to solidify as my next challenge after FFXV. For that reason, I have decided to leave my current position and start my own business to achieve my goal. As production of Episode Ardyn continues and Luminous Productions works on new projects, I felt that it was time for me to hand over the torch to the next-generation group of talented and trustworthy colleagues and believe that they will create something amazing,” Hajima Tabata stated.
