Kingdom Hearts 3 – Here’s Why the Game Took So Long To Develop

In less than four weeks, Kingdom Hearts 3 will roll out after the devs spent a very long time developing the sequel of the popular franchise. The new title in the series was announced a few years ago, and many of the fans even wondered if the game would finally come out. Eventually, it’s finally done, and Kingdom Hearts 3 will launch soon. Here’s why the game took so long to develop, according to Tai Yasue, the co-director of the game.

Tai Yasue, in a recent interview with Newsweek, explained why it took so long for Square Enix to develop Kingdom Hearts 3 and why the game’s engine needed replacing as the older one got outdated and was not anymore what the games studio wanted.

“Our current engine is great in terms of developing a high-end AAA title, but because there was a change in technology and workflows, it took some time for the team to adapt and adjust,” said Tai Yasue.

Tai Yasue also mentioned that he and his colleagues have been aware of the fans’ frustration during the long period of the game’s development.

“I’m truly sorry to have kept everyone waiting for so long! It took a while, but we really wanted to make sure the game met everyone’s expectations. I hope, more than I’ve hoped for anything else in my 20 years of making games, that you all enjoy it,” explained Tai Yasue, Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts 3 co-director.

Luckily, Kingdom Hearts 3 is going to launch on January 29th, 2019, for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. In other news, the fans will be in for a treat since Kingdom Hearts 3, according to the most recent trailers, will boast various worlds for Sora and friends to explore, including some from Toy Story, Monsters Inc., and Big Hero 6, among many others.
