The new PlayStation 4 Firmware Update 6.50 is rolled out already for all the regions. The firmware patch brings some exciting new features and improvements, with remote play on iOS standing out by far.

PlayStation 4 Firmware Update 6.50 Brings Remote Play On iOS

To take advantage of this new remote play on iOS, you should go to the App Store on your iPhone or iPad and download an app called PS4 Remote Play. Unluckily, the new PlayStation 4 Firmware Update 6.50 doesn’t bring support for DualShock 4, so you’ll have to use a compatible pad to enjoy the remote play on iOS.

Besides this exciting addition, PlayStation 4 Firmware Update 6.50 doesn’t come out with anything else that should be noted in particular. It mostly brings some bug fixes and stability and performance improvements.

What Else Is New In PlayStation 4 Firmware Update 6.50?

According to the PlayStation 4 Firmware Update 6.50 patch notes, the following improvements, and fixes are the most significant:

  • You can now choose 720p when you broadcast using Niconico Live. This service is available only in certain countries and regions
  • You can now change the button assignment to perform “Enter” operations from thebutton to thebutton. Select(Settings) > [System], and then select the checkbox for [UseButton for Enter].This option is available only for specific countries and regions.
  • Another major update is Play Time Management. This feature gives Family Managers (and adult family members set as Guardians), the ability to control when and for how long each individual child can play for. Playtime can even be set to vary depending on the day of the week, for example, you could allow your child to play for two hours between 4-7pm during the week and then for 4 hours between 8am-8pm on the weekend.

Of course, these improvements pale before the remote play on iOS that the new PlayStation 4 Firmware Update 6.50 brings.
