Several League of Legends gamers reported that they experience the error when the game client attempts to install the latest patches after launch.
The error is normally indicated with the error message: Something’s up with our servers and it’s preventing you from patching. Error: 003.

Solution 1: Restart your computer
One of the easiest solutions to apply is to restart your computer. All you have to do is close the game client, restart your computer and then launch the game client afterwards.
However, if the problem persists, you might want to check your internet connectivity status and then relaunch the game client again.
Solution 2: Delete content from the Releases file
Some gamers were able to resolve the League of Legends error code 003 simply by deleting contents from the Releases file.
Here’s how to do this:
- Close the League of Legends game client.
- In your list of installed program files, Go to Rads > Projects > lol_game_client > releases
- Delete the latest releases file. This will delete the last patch and your computer will attempt to download it again.
- Restart the game client afterwards.
Note: Don’t delete all the files in the releases folder so as not to risk deleting core game files.
Solution 3: Run the game as an Admin
You can simply fix the League of Legends error code 003 by running League of Legends as an administrator.
Follow these steps to do that:
- Right-click on the game’s icon on your desktop and then go to the Compatibility tab
- Check the option ‘Run this program as an administrator’
- Launch League of Legends again.
Solution 4: Use the Hextech Repair Tool
Some LOL’ gamers recommended the Hextech Repair Tool which can fix various connection issues, most especially error 003. You can download this tool from Riot Games without paying a premium. Install it, run it, and then check if the problem persists.
Solution 5: Check the server status
You may need to check the current status of the LOL server that you are trying to connect to. If the server is unavailable, you may have to wait. But again, you can try to connect to other LOL server on the list of available LOL servers.
