Solution 1: Restart your computer

One of the easiest solutions to apply is to restart your computer. All you have to do is close the game client, restart your computer and then launch the game client afterwards.

Solution 2: Delete content from the Releases file

Some gamers were able to resolve the League of Legends error code 003 simply by deleting contents from the Releases file.

Here’s how to do this:

  • Close the League of Legends game client.
  • In your list of installed program files, Go to Rads > Projects > lol_game_client > releases
  • Delete the latest releases file. This will delete the last patch and your computer will attempt to download it again.
  • Restart the game client afterwards.

Note: Don’t delete all the files in the releases folder so as not to risk deleting core game files.

Solution 3: Run the game as an Admin

You can simply fix the League of Legends error code 003 by running League of Legends as an administrator.

  • Right-click on the game’s icon on your desktop and then go to the Compatibility tab
  • Check the option ‘Run this program as an administrator’
