Anybody who has ever played games from EA’s Battlefield series knows very well that these titles stand out for their impressive level of realism and graphics. Battlefield 2042 is the last game of the series, as it came out in 2021 for a wide list of platforms. While it was generally received well by the fans, we all know that, at least when it comes to gaming, you need to constantly try to improve your products.
It’s only a matter of time until the next Battlefield game comes out, as it’s in currently in the works. It’s supposed to come out after 2024, and the good news is that we can already make plausible assumptions about what it may contain. MP1ST has found an interesting statement from the EA CEO, none other than Andrew Wilson, about the future of the Battlefield series. The CEO tells us that we can expect to see a Battlefield game “for the future”, and while we’re not entirely sure what that could mean, we can just speculate. Here’s the statement:
The relaunch of Battlefield, one of the great first-person shooters of our generation. We employed a leadership group from our competitor who has basically rearchitected how that competitor went to market and they’re building Battlefield for the future. I’m unbelievably excited about that.
Let’s also not forget that previous comments revealed that the next Battlefield title will be a “reimagination of a truly connected ecosystem.” The most logical assumption would be that the next Battlefield game will include futuristic weapons and armies, such as laser launchers, high-tech vehicles that can fly when needed, and God knows what else.
Battlefield 2042, the latest game of the series, will soon become three years old, and it is still pretty popular. SteamDB reveals that Battlefield 2042’s 24-hour peak concurrent was 99,274.
What we can expect
While what we can expect from the next Battlefield game can still represent the subject of multiple debates, what’s for sure is that the fans want a lot. For instance, they expect to see large-scale battles, larger maps, and more modern combat.
Let’s not forget that while Battlefield 4 had amazing graphics and realism, especially for the fact that it came out ten years ago, it was still teeming with bugs. Battlefield 3, its successor, on the other hand, didn’t have so many bugs, but it still lacked some important gameplay elements that were present in the fourth major iteration of the series, such as the possibility to tag enemies using binoculars. It’s clear that the next Battlefield game needs to fix all these aspects and incorporate the best of the series into a single game in order to reach success.
However, a new Battlefield game that looks as if it was dragged right from The Jetsons might not exactly be what the fans want, as still, a nice dose of realism is recommended. We still need to have that feeling as if we’re actually in the middle of a war, not in a video game, and the Battlefield series has been pretty good at that so far.
Battlefield 2042, the latest game of the series, is available for Windows PC, OS X, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox Series X/S, Android, iOS, and Kindle Fire. On the other hand, its predecessor, Battlefield 4, was available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Windows PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. In this rhythm, it would be reasonable to assume that the next Battlefield game will be available for both the major consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X) and the PC, as well as for some cloud gaming options.
