“Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero,” the long-awaited continuation of the legendary Tenkaichi Budokai series, will feature an impressive roster of fighters and lots of transformations. While we still don’t have a release date for the upcoming game, there’s already a lot of important info on the web about it. For instance, we can now learn about the 24 playable characters that Sparking! Zero will have to offer in its roster, thanks to a piece of information spotted by IGN.
It’s clear that the devs from Spike and the publishers from Bandai Namco are into heavy fan service at this point since the 24 characters in the forthcoming game’s roster are actually different variations of Goku. Therefore, if you’re a fan of the famous Saiyan and his wacky hairstyles, surely you’ll be delighted by what’s coming next.
Goku + Vegeta = Dragon Ball love
Goku and Vegeta will be predominant in the upcoming Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, which is practically Budokai Tenkaichi 4. The two beloved pure-blooded Saiyans will come in different variations. For instance, we will get to see Vegeta from early Dragon Ball Z when he was bad to the bone. At the same time, we will also get to pick the Saiyan Prince in his Super Saiyan God form, which he achieved much later in the franchise. Vegeta becoming one of the good guys is one of the most interesting character developments in anime history, as he went from a ruthless villain and killer to a loving father and protector of Earth.

It’s great to see that even the Great Ape will be back, as it was present in Budokai Tenkaichi 3 as well, a game that is 17 years old.
On the other hand, Goku will obviously be the star of the show, as we will get to see lots of different variations of him in the roster. This was obvious from the start, as the Saiyan hero had a lot of transformations throughout the Dragon Ball franchise, and many more will also come. He can go from Kaioken to Super Saiyan 3, Super Saiyan Blue, and even Ultra Instinct. Our guess is that we will see all those transformations in the upcoming game.
We’ll probably also get to see fusions in Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, as we all know from the franchise, that Goku and Vegeta can join powers and give birth to either Gogeta or Vegito.
Less important Z warriors will also be available as fighters in the roster of Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero as well, as we can see from the image above. Characters such as Tien, Krillin, Android 18, and others will be ready to rumble and eventually help Goku and Vegeta as they fight the strongest foes. The latest game of the series, Budokai Tenkaichi 3, obviously didn’t have any of the transformations and new characters from Dragon Ball Super, as that anime didn’t exist when the game came out. Therefore, those who are fans of Dragon Ball Super will have the chance to see characters such as Jiren, Broly, or Kefla in Sparking! ZERO, as well as the new transformations of Goku and Vegeta. We’ll probably even get to see Gohan’s new Beast form that the son of Goku had in the latest Dragon Ball movie.
Oh, yes, and Mr. Satan is also on the roster of Sparking! ZERO, unfortunately… Zeno knows why.
